COURSE DESCRIPTION

The social and emotional needs of pupils who are in care, edge of care, adopted or living in difficult circumstances can be both challenging and time consuming. This course will demonstrate practical ways to help looked after and vulnerable children engage in education and provide learning opportunities for teaching staff to better cope with children displaying a range of additional needs. These will include pupils with attachment difficulties, emotional, social and behavioural difficulties.  This course is recommended for teachers with responsibility for looked after children, but is also suitable for NQTs, experienced teachers and support staff.

Delegates will explore a range of techniques and strategies for promoting emotional stability specific to the needs of individual pupils. It will also explore the importance and effectiveness of building relationships to overcome the barriers to learning.
